#172 Write a Novel

I originally decided to replace this thing to do as I didn't think I had the ability to write a novel. I was always terrible at English in school and always hated the thought of creating a story. But recently I have been thinking that it would be an incredible achievement especially for me.

I started the 101 things to do list so that I could push myself and achieve things I would have never thought possible and to create amazing memories.

Last year I read a post by fellow blogger Jessica about National Novel Writing Month. During the month of November thousands of participants begin to write a novel with the aim of achieving 50,000 words. The aim is not to write a best seller but to get your foot in the door and start writing.

What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month's time.

Who: You! We can't do this unless we have some other people trying it as well. Let's write laughably awful yet lengthy prose together.

Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era's most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

When: You can sign up anytime to add your name to the roster and browse the forums. Writing begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.

I think this would be great for me as I have a goal to work for. If National Novel Writing Month was not around I would definitely be in the 99% of people, if left to our own devices, would never make time to write a novel.

Timing for me has worked out well as I still have half of October to think about the story I am going to write and prepare myself to achieved at least a half decent Novel.

Have any of you taken part in this before or going to give it a go this year??? Let me know

Thanks for the comments! Chocoholicteen you can definitely steal the idea. Are you going to complete it this year?
Leah Welcome to my blog! I have always wanted to move to LA but being a UK citizen is going to make this slightly difficult. I will not give up though lol.

Please stop by our blog and help us with our project if you have a second by answering the thing you want to do most before you "kick the bucket".

I'm doing it this year for the first time. I'm stuck at 14,000 words. Hopefully this weekend will be a productive one. Good luck with your project!
